Zearn:

We are excited to share that our district is moving to a district-level license for Zearn to provide students, parents, and teachers with supplemental support during school closures, as well as the 2020-2021 school year.  The district-level license will include exciting benefits and enhancements for both teachers and students.  Specific information regarding these benefits and enhancements has been included in the attached Zearn Teacher Communication.  Please share the communication with teachers as soon as possible.  There are step-by-step instructions that teachers will need to complete no later than April 3, 2020 in order to ensure a successful merge and transition to the district license.  We have included detailed information and resources to help support teachers with this transition.  We have also scheduled multiple teacher support webinars with Zearn as an additional layer of support.  Please encourage all teachers to attend one of the scheduled webinars below.  Additional webinars will be scheduled for support if needed.

While students will engage with Zearn through their district-linked personal account, parents are also welcome and encouraged to engage with Zearn’s digital activities to support students with at-home math learning.  Attached please also find a Zearn Parent Communication that includes information regarding webinars and resources that are being provided for parents.  Please encourage your teachers to share this information with parents.

SmartyAnts®

All students Pre-K-2nd grade will have access to SmartyAnts as part of their weekly resources. It is recommended that they spend 15-20 minutes in the program 3 or 4 days a week. Students in 3^rd-5^th grades will have access, if appropriate, for filling in foundational skill gaps. SmartyAnts® is a literacy program that focuses on developing students foundational skills necessary to progress from an emergent reader to a transitional reader. SmartyAnts® offers students an adaptive experience that will assess to see student’s current level of skill and then progress them through a foundational skill scope and sequence. Students will access SmartyAnts® in myPascoConnect . This resource will supplement the foundational skills lessons that the students will engage in through myLearning by allowing them to work through a variety of activities that provide opportunities for learning, practice, review, and remediation of foundational skills.

Teachers will also have an app on their MyPascoConnect Launch Pad, this will allow them to see how students perform in the leveling assessment to place them in the program. They will be able to monitor student progress and see where students may need additional support or follow-up. Teachers will be able to participate in one of 12 online webinars offered on April 13th and April 14th at a variety of times.  Links to sign up for these webinars will be shared next week.
