Here is the text form of the message you got from Mrs. Slusser today. If you have any questions please let us know.
March 30th is Device Distribution Day: Families will have an opportunity to pick up a device so their student can get online Tuesday, March 31st and continue their education through Distance Learning.
The program is designed for parents and students who do not have access to a computer or tablet at home that meets the specifications (we posted this morning what district has provided as specifications on our school social media platforms). We know that we do not have enough devices for all students to check-out. So, we have to do our best to put the devices in the hands of students who truly need them. We do have some families that have a device at home, but they might have 2 or 3 children. So, we are recommending that if you have multiple children, we are happy to provide 1 device for every 2 children to start. Remember our primary goal is to get devices to families who do not have access to a computer at home. If, after Monday, we have devices remaining we will be happy to provide additional devices to your family. But first we need to get them in the hands of those families who don’t have any computers at home.

On our school social media platforms a Survey Monkey has been created for families to fill out so we can get an idea what families will need devices. Please take the time to complete and thank you to those families that have already responded.

How the device plan pick-up will work at Cotee River based on our current school needs:

• If you have a child in grades Pre-K-2 1:30-3:00 will be check out time
• If you have a child in grades 3rd-5th 3:00-4:30 will be check out time
• If you have children in multiple grade levels please come during the 3:00-4:30 pick up window
• Devices can only be issued to the listed parent/guardian of the student and should have an ID to verify.
• Please only send one parent/guardian to the school to pick up the device. We need to practice safe social distancing.
• An assigned person or persons will be outside to deliver devices: K-2 Ipads and 3rd-5th Laptop
• Parent/Guardian will drive through the car loop, and be greeted by a staff member, family member remains in their vehicle.
• Electronic device will be placed in the seat on the passenger side to maintain distance.
• Parent/Guardian will sign for the equipment and will be expected to follow the guidelines and return the device to school once virtual learning is concluded.

• We please ask that everyone be patient when you come to pick up devices because we will need to be thoughtful and thorough in the process due to the amount of technology that is being loaned out to our families. We will not be able to rush the process. We appreciate everyone’s patience while we support our families during the time frames provided.
• For more information on the Device Distribution – including information on what you can do if you don’t have access to the Internet – go to the coronavirus page on our website and click on Distance Learning.
• If your child was out before Spring Break or any student who did not bring home all of their Eureka materials it will not be a concern. The students can access everything they need online, and there is no need to send additional materials home from the school. However, we will have posted on our Cotee River School Website PDFs of Eureka’s Student Workbooks by grade level if you would like to access.
• Please remember Virtual Learning is not optional and class will be in session for all scholars starting Tuesday, March 31st.

We know this plan to deliver instruction virtually will make some feel uneasy and cause potential difficulties as we navigate through the process. We want to reassure all of our Cotee River Families that we will be with you every step of the way. If we don’t have an answer we will work hard to find one and problem solve with you as things occur. We appreciate everyone working with us as we embark on this uncharted adventure together. We as a Cotee River Family Got This!
