Lifelong Learning Homework and Late Work Guidelines

2025-2026 School Year

The purpose of assigned homework is to extend learning by reinforcing standards and providing regular targeted practice as children work to master standards. Grade level teams will communicate with our families what homework will be provided and whether or not it will count as a grade. Communication may occur through MyStudent, planner, or team newsletters. The intent behind the homework assigned will be to enrich existing knowledge, provide extra practice for newly taught skills, and be directly related to your child’s grade level standards.  Children in grades K-2nd, time allocated 10-20 minutes nightly and 3rd-5th 20-40 minutes.  Homework skills for practice may include but not limited to:

  • Nightly reading and log time into Beanstack platform located in MyPasco Connect
  • Skills practice in math, reading, science or social studies
  • Completion of class assignments
  • Research projects

The late work policy is intended to demonstrate the need for scholars to practice meeting deadlines and completing assignments within the current curricular unit or chapter of study.  Classwork and homework are due to the teacher by the assigned due dates.  If your child refused to complete the assignment or task, they may not receive an extended timeline.  If your child needs additional time to complete an assignment from class or homework, due to extenuating circumstances, please reach out to their teacher to discuss an extension.

If you have any questions about our homework or late work policy, please reach out to your child’s teacher.

Homework Guidelines for PLCs:

  • Teams will work together to coordinate assigned homework and will ensure it is manageable based on the suggested time allocations:
  • K-2nd 10-20 minutes nightly
  • 3rd-5th 20-40 minutes nightly
  • Communicate with families assigned homework (ex. Weekly/Monthly Newsletters)
  • Communicate how the homework will count (ex. if will count as a grade include the percent toward their overall quarterly grade)

When homework is assigned, children should receive feedback
