Family Message July 28th, 2020

Good afternoon Cotee River families, this is Mrs. Slusser with important updated information.  We are very excited for the upcoming school year.  As we continue to prepare for the school year, our families will receive important messages from us.

Currently we have had the majority of our families enter or contact us for the the option you are choosing for your child.  If you have not notified us it is important that you do so because the information received is how we are planning for grade level teams and your child’s teacher.  You can call us at (727) 774-3000.

A reminder that all children will now return to school on August 24th regardless of the option chosen.  Meet the Teacher/Orientation Day will now be Thursday, August 20th.  A reminder from the prior call I made on July 13th: All of Pasco County schools will be hosting on-campus Meet the Teacher/Orientation Days for scholars in transition years (Pre-K, Kindergarten, 6th grade and 9th grade).  Our PreK and KG scholars, at Cotee River will be able to come visit their child’s classroom on August 20th from 11:30-4:00.  Children in grades 1st-5th will have a virtual option to meet their teacher.  Families will be able to go on our school website, choose your child’s teacher and meet them virtually on August 20th.

Parents will be able to locate their child’s teacher name and bus information (if applicable) on the myStudent Parent Portal.  Please check this the morning of August 20th so you will know who your child’s teacher is for the August 20th Meet the Teacher/Orientation Day. If you have not registered, you can do so by going to the Cotee River website (cres.pasco.k12.fl.us) and select the parent drop down and then select parent portal and follow the directions provided.  It is important that all families are registered with the parent portal. If there needs to be any changes to your child’s teacher, after August 20th, you will be notified directly.  Also, on this day you will be able to pay your child’s school fees on-line and this is for any option that you have chosen.

Packets were already mailed out on July 15th to all of our registered families with the address we have on file.  If your address needed to be updated you can still do so by calling our front office, at (727) 774-3000.  The packet included important items that your child will need.  The packet included: Emergency and Clinic cards that should be returned Day 1 and no later than Day 2 of school (regardless if you are returning to traditional school or MySchool On-line); Car Tags and Car wrist Bands with instructions; Calendar at a Glance with important information which will have to be updated for the month of August due to the two week extension for schools to open, Class Supply List and PLACE information if you need to sign up your child.  We also posted on our social media a recommended supply list for those who are participating in MySchool On-line. If you do not receive the packet we mailed out please call the front office so we can get one delivered to you or make an appointment to come pick one up.

If you chose option 2, MySchool On-line and informed us that your child will need a device, we will be sending out information closer to the start of the school year on when you will check out the device to engage in learning at school.

When school starts on August 24th stations will be set up, in the front of the school, to assist families that need to register or need additional information.  Only PreK and KG families will be able to take their child to classroom door the first week of school from 10:00-10:30 and this will be limited to the child’s guardian. After the first week of school no families will be able to visit classrooms until guidelines are updated.

If you need to register your child or know of anyone who still needs to register a child please call our front office to make an appointment prior to the start of the school year.

We hope everyone is staying well and safe.  Take care.  Mrs. Slusser
